First Asia Pacific Men’s Lifestyle Channel to Launch Lionsgate Drama Series MAD MEN (October, 2014)

October 13, 2014 - Cannes, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Luxembourg – The first Asia Pacific channel for men, LifeStyle TV (LSTV), announced today that the first season of the multi-award winning drama Mad Men will air across the pan Asian region beginning November 2014. Produced by Lionsgate, the 13 x one hour series is created, written and executive produced by Emmy® and Golden Globe® winner Matthew Weiner in association with Weiner Bros.

Set in New York in the 1960's, Mad Men has riveted audiences with its depiction of the seductive and intriguing world of Madison Avenue advertising. The outstanding ensemble cast includes Golden Globe® winner Jon Hamm, January Jones, Vincent Kartheiser, Elisabeth Moss, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Jessica Pare, Aaron Staton, Rich Sommer, Robert Morse, Kiernan Shipka, Christopher Stanley, Jay Ferguson, Ben Feldman, Kevin Rahm and Harry Hamlin.

Mad Men is one of the most honored series in television history. The series has won three consecutive Golden Globes® for Best Drama and with its fourth consecutive Emmy® win for Outstanding Drama Series, it tied the all-time record for Emmy® wins in the category, joining an illustrious group of only three other shows that have achieved this milestone (Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, The West Wing). The series has been named one AFI's Top 10 Outstanding Television Programs of the Year six times, and earned numerous additional awards.

Playboy Plus在亞洲五號衛星推出LifeStyle TV頻道 (March, 2014)

亞洲首屈一指的衛星營運商亞洲衛星有限公司(AsiaSat) 今日宣佈Playboy Plus Entertainment Inc.繼去年於亞洲五號衛星成功推出花花公子電視高清台後,向亞太地區廣播另一條新頻道 — LifeStyle TV (LSTV)。

LSTV是亞洲第一條為男性而設的生活時尚電視頻道,為男仕提供多元化節目包括:旅遊、美饌、獵奇及時尚生活品味的優質節目。觀眾對象為18至38歲的亞洲男仕,為他們度身訂造的節目有由韓國人氣明星曹誠模主持的男仕時裝服飾節目;韓國人氣偶像昶旻(2AM)及秋憲坤(Alex Chu)主持的美食節目。

加密的LSTV頻道信號是從亞洲衛星的香港大埔地面站上行至亞洲五號衛星(東經100.5度),通過一個C波段DVB-S2 MCPC平台以覆蓋亞洲、中東、及澳紐等50 多個國家及地區。

Q: How did the idea for a lifestyle channel for men come about?

We looked into the market and we work closely with Mei Ah (Mei Ah Entertainment) on the development of content. We feel that there does not appear to be a channel that targets specifically men’s lifestyle. Mei Ah actually showed a reel during FLIMART just a month ago to test a market, and we are very positive in moving forward to do a soft launch of a channel that will come in the next three months. A working title would be at LSTV, which means Lifestyle TV. Purposely, it will be targeted at men from ages 16 to 38. On the channel, male viewers can get advice on fashion, travel and general lifestyle topics.

Who would be the main providers of contents?

We are now working with five major suppliers. CJ E&M, Venevision, Mei Ah plus we are currently in discussion to acquire content from two of the largest content providers from the U.S. (to be announced). These are direct acquisitions for now but we have co-productions planned in Thailand, Korea as well as Hong Kong. We are so happy to have so many proposals being discussed with CJ E&M as well as some production on partners in Thailand.

This would be difference from the Playboy brand?

LSTV has no association with Playboy even though it will have contributing efforts from Mei Ah as well as Playboy. Mei Ah will be the main group driving this channel because they know the Chinese Market. With Mei AH on board, we are looking at the totally Asian market perspective. LSTV will be in original languages and subtitled in Chinese and English. In the future, we hope to add additional languages’ text files.

Which territories would you launch this channel in?

We're talking to everyone right now and we have received possibly feedback. We have four territories (to be announced) wanting to sign up with us.
